The gun has a brushed blue finish and looks nice to my eye, but I've heard everything from the west hurley's having all cast parts (including slide and frame) and being total junk to the west hurleys having a machined slide and frame and not being bad. It does have the Thompson arrowhead on the slide and was manufactured in West Hurley. During first month of production, 28 Thompson guns were shipped to the IRA via George Gordon Rorke. This gun was sold to the Irish Republican Army (IRA). Just picked up a older Thompson AO 1911 to replace my other 1911 that was stolen. The sixth gun manufactured was serial number 46 and was the first gun consigned to Auto-Ordnance in the name of their salesman George Gordon Rorke on 2 April. I believe it was made in the early eighties. Thompson AO 1911 date or at least date range. The serial number starts with 'AOC' and is well under 50,000, if that info is relevant. I have an opportunity to buy a west hurley auto ordnance 1911.
